Building better, more secure supply chains

The NOL Group, through its APL and APL Logistics businesses, is involved in a number of initiatives designed to build stronger, more secure supply chains. These security initiatives are part of a collective industry-wide effort to guard against international terrorism and other acts that threaten our people, operations and our customers' businesses.

Along with other carriers, supply chain managers, shippers, the U.S. Customs and other government agencies, we are involved in efforts such as the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT). We also provide updates on various security initiatives, including those from:

  • Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)
  • Singapore Customs' - Secure Trade Partnership (STP)
  • Advance Data Element Initiative ("10+2")
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)

APL is the only ocean carrier represented on the Department Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of Customs and Border Protection and Related Functions (COAC). The committee provides advice to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials on trade implications of cargo security and customs compliance regulations.

Additionally, APL is a member of the World Shipping Council's Security Advisory Committee, the Retail Industry Leaders Association Supply Chain Security Committee and the National Industrial Transportation League's Select Committee on Security. Through these groups, we provide industry feedback to proposed U.S. government legislation impacting the maritime transportation industry.
