The company has strong intermodal capabilities in North America through LinerTrain™, an on-dock rail service on the US West Coast. In India, the IndiaLinx™ freight rail service is operated by APL Logistics, the supply chain management arm of the NOL Group.

Across our operations, we participate and support programs that reduce our environmental footprint at sea and in our shore-side operations. These include:

• The use of low sulphur fuel in US West Coast ports, the ports of New York, New Jersey, Hong Kong  and Singapore to reduce emissions
• Slow-steaming to reduce fuel consumption and emissions
• Voluntary speed reduction in Southern California waters to lower emissions
• Cold-ironing our ships at berth at the port of Oakland in 2011. Cold-ironing is the term for switching off a vessel's diesel generators and relying instead on shore-side electrical power.

APL offers customers easy access and greater visibility to shipment information and transactions through HomePort®, its award-winning, customizable website. HomePort® offers a comprehensive suite of e-Commerce tools, from bookings to bills of lading, sailing schedules to rates, so our customers can have quick and easy access to information and online transactions.
